Open Position Descriptions

Director of Community Engagement Grand Rapids Young Professionals (GRYP) Position Summary: The Director of Community Engagement serves as the primary liaison between Grand Rapids Young Professionals and local nonprofit organizations. This board position is responsible for creating meaningful volunteer opportunities, strengthening community partnerships, and helping GRYP members engage with causes that positively impact the Greater Grand Rapids community. Key Responsibilities -Plan and coordinate at least one volunteer event each quarter for GRYP members. -Organize and lead the annual Nonprofit Fair held each May, including outreach, logistics, and partner coordination. -Build and maintain relationships with local nonprofit organizations and their volunteer coordinators. -Serve as the primary spokesperson and point of contact between GRYP and nonprofit partners. -Communicate volunteer opportunities and community engagement initiatives to GRYP leadership and members. -Collaborate with fellow board members to align community engagement efforts with GRYP’s mission and goals. -Ensure volunteer events are organized, engaging, and provide value to both members and community partners. Preferred Skills & Qualifications -Strong communication and relationship-building skills -Experience coordinating events, volunteers, or community initiatives -Passion for community involvement and nonprofit engagement -Ability to manage timelines, partnerships, and event logistics effectively -Professionalism and reliability in representing GRYP within the community Time Commitment -Attend regular board meetings and GRYP events -Approximately 5–10 hours per month, with increased involvement leading up to quarterly volunteer events and the annual Nonprofit Fair Impact of the Role The Director of Community Engagement plays a vital role in connecting young professionals with opportunities to give back, strengthening GRYP’s presence in the community, and building lasting partnerships with local nonprofits.
