On September 27, 2008, over 250 people gathered at the Sixth Street Park in Grand Rapids to volunteer for the river clean up, including about 20 GRYP volunteers. GRYP was proud to sponsor the fifth annual Grand River Clean Up along with the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and the City of Grand Rapids. 6,100 lbs. of refuse was removed from the banks of the Grand River and its tributaries. Thank you to all our GRYP members that volunteered their time to this important event, which results in a cleaner environment for Grand Rapids. It was very much appreciated.

Public Policy Associates (PPA) is inviting GRYP members to take a survey about a hotly debated topic affecting cities all over the United States. This is a survey about transportation, including roads and public transit. The topic of transit has come up at many GRYP luncheons so this is your chance to have your voice heard!
The survey will asks about your daily travels, the forms of transportation you use, and what changes you would like to see in transportation in your community and in Michigan. Your input will be shared with decision makers in Michigan to help shape the future of transportation in your community and across the state.

Many young professionals took advantage of this fabulous networking opportunity by exchanging business cards and contact information. A good time was had by all! Thank-you to all our GRYP Members that supported this year's Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Whether you attended our charity wine tasting, donated on-line, walked in the event, raised money from friends and family members, or helped out in the tent during the event, we could not have done it without you! The event raised over $60,000 to help in the fight against cancer and GRYP is proud to have been a part in that. This was a record for the Downtown Grand Rapids event. Please keep watching the GRYP website and newsletters for our next volunteer event.
